Sonic Landscapes: Between captured and synthesized sounds

Hva? This workshop examines origins of electro-acoustic performances and focuses on creating live music with recorded and captured sounds. We will discuss the evolution of practices from tape-cutting and processing found sound to composing with oscillators. We will explore some ways of modulating recorded and live-input audio with control voltage and using noise and feedback in conjunction with analog synthesis.
Hvem? Elyse Tabet is an audiovisual artist and electronic musician. She works with recorded and synthesized sound to create electro-acoustic landscapes and deconstructed rhythmics. She began working in the field of audiovisual interaction in the early 2000s, mainly as a videographer for live performances and DJ sets, and as an electro-acoustic music composer. Elyse is a co-founder of the Beirut Synthesizer Center, an informal co-op for synthesis and beyond.
